I have a place to live!!

I found out last night that my application has been approved!  Woo! This means I officially have a place to live when I get to Australia.  It's about a mile away from campus and across the river.  On Google maps it looks really cute and it's yellow! At first they had my lease ending in June but after I emailed them they were really nice and extended it to July.  Unfortunately I have to pay a pretty large deposit(they call it a bond)  when I get there, I think it's about a month's worth of rent.  Oh well.  I'm no longer homeless and that's all that matters!

Good news!

I got some very good news just a few minutes ago.  Thepad finally received my money!  They should have received it a few days ago so I was getting very nervous about it.  They emailed me twice saying they would stop my application if they didn't receive the money or a receipt within 24 hours.  I emailed them receipts both times, but I wasn't sure if it was enough. After the last email I basically begged them to check for the money in there account again...  Well not quite, but almost.  Yay.  I'm just so glad they found it and my money is no longer lost.  Now I have to wait 48-72 hours until they let me know if I did get the property or not. I hope it all works out! 

No news yet...

I emailed the company this morning to see if they've recieved my payment. Maybe I should have emailed them sooner letting them know it was coming... Oops. I really hope I didn't mess anything up and I hear back soon. The time change kind of makes everything a little bit more difficult as well. They probably won't look at my email till later tonight. I had an issue with my overseas insurance earlier in that I didn't buy it for a long enough time period, but that issue seems to finally be resolved. Woo! I just need to email UQ about it. I talked to an advisor yesterday about my visa and it seems to be that I don't need a stamp on my passport, strange. That makes me kinda nervous. I'm going to try to ask my study abroad advisor about that and see if she knows. Well, that's all my updates today. Hopefully I'll have housing by tomorrow!

Housing

Uffta, today is nerve racking. I've been looking online at thepad.com.au for housing near the university of Queensland. I found a cute little student share house I like that's not to expensive, so after many back and forths with thepad I've applied for it. Thpad was given to me by the university, so I trust the site, but it was very scary wiring them two weeks rent this morning. If they don't get the deposit in 36 hours now I don't get the place so hopefully the money will get there in time. There's still the option that I couldn't get the place because I don't have a good enough application it something as well, Eek. If that happens it says in there contract they'll refund the money... I just hope that holds internationally. Well, on the bright side if all goes well i'll have a place to live within the next few days! And that's really exciting. Wish me luck!
