Been kinda sick lately.. :(

This past weekend was a pretty boring one, I just ended up watching a lot of movies. Haven't been feeling very well lately, idk what I have, some kind of cold or something. My ME375 final has been moved to next Tuesday so I have some more time before I have to start worrying about that. Today I have my second practical (or lab session) in Thermodynamics and that should be fun (it was supposed to be last Friday, but right after I got there I found out they moved it.. don't you love when that happens). Speaking of thermo, the average was a 35% on the thermo portion of the exam, idk my grade yet but I'm pretty sure I beat that so I don't feel as bad.
Just bought my ticket to go Snorkeling when I go to Cairnes (on the Great Barrier Reef). I leave for that tomorrow and am really excited. I have to start packing tonight. Hopefully it will be a fun trip :) Should be. Ok, well off to school with me now.

Cheers!

Exams.. Exams.. Exam..

Ever since my birthday I've been constantly busy studying for exams. Friday morning after my birthday I finished up with all of the homework I had missed over my week and Bali and started studying for my Thermo exam. In the evening I went over to Matts and we studied together. That was good fun because we got some $5 pizzas from Pizza Hut. The pizza's weren't as good as in the US but they were good enough. The next morning was the morning of my Thermo exam. It went awful.. but such is life. Everyone else thought it went awful as well so I don't feel so bad. I think part of the difficulty was just that it was set up so differently than our exams that it was kind of confusing as to what I was supposed to do. Oh well, now I'll be more prepared for finals here.
I spent the rest of Saturday recovering and then caught up on all of my missed lectures on Sunday. I started studying for my Materials exam on Monday. Again me and Matt had pizza while studying.. I'm liking this tradition :) On Tuesday I had a project in the morning for my acoustics class (we counted cars while measuring the Sound Level for 3 hours.. woo...) and then took my Materials exam. I think that exam went much better. Yesterday (Wednesday) was Anzac day which is like there memorial day here. All of the parades were early early morning and I couldn't get myself up so I mostly relaxed and caught up on some homework.  Today I'm finishing my homework for the week. Yay! My final exam is for ME375 is next week sometime although I'm not sure when yet (that's a long story.. bleh!) so I'm going to start studying for that on Saturday. All my other exams in that class have gone well so hopefully this one will too.
Well that's my life lately.. pretty boring. Next Wednesday I leave for the Great Barrier Reef so I'm trying to get homework done ahead of time. I'm so excited for that though!! yay!

I'm 21!!

Yesterday was my birthday here! Woo! I arrived in Brisbane at 11:00 and headed home. Once I was home I started laundry, unpacked, and then headed to campus to use the internet after I found out that ours isn't working at home. I was on campus for a while and then went home to get ready for my 21st! Last night was lots of fun. I ate at an Italian restaurant with 4 of my girlfriends here and then we headed over to the Fox for the rest of the night. We had a great time. This morning I woke up and went to campus early to finish homework. I got most of my homework done, went to my lab in the afternoon and am now frantically studying for my Thermo/Heat transfer exam tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Final day in Bali :(

It was soo sad to leave Bali, but my last day was a good one. Me and Jess, and two other girls from the Hostel took a trip up north on the Island to see the waterfall. On the way we stopped to see rice fields, played with monkeys, and got to pet a huge snake. The scenery outside of the city was really just breathtaking. I loved being out of the city so much. The monkeys were again so funny. The boss monkey was so selfish though. It was cute how one monkey could drink water out of a water bottle just like a human. How cool. They're smart those monkeys. When we got the waterfall it randomly started pouring. We decided to tough it out and go anyways and I am so glad we did. Because it was pouring we were the only people at the waterfall and got it all to ourselves. Amazing. What a great end to an amazing trip. Our driver that day dropped me right off at the airport. I caught my flight to Darwin with no problem. In Darwin though I was so tired I almost slept through my next flight. I woke up to them calling my name for final boarding. At least I made it. :)

Bali Day 6

I forgot to say this in my last post but on day 5 I also met a girl named Jess from Minnesota. After talking to her for a bit I found out she's a cousin to the Jorde's in Northwood! What a small world. She's teaching english in Cambodia and was traveling for a bit. Anyways, on day 6 Pat had left and I was more on my own (I was still hanging out with people I met at the hostel so not completely alone) so I decided to go exploring. I think this was my favorite day of the trip. I bought lots of souvineers for my family and got to see anything and everything I wanted. Then I had lunch at an amazing restaurant near my hostel. For super I had Italian on the beach with a girl from Ireland that was also at the hostel. It was the perfect last night in Bali.

Bali Day 5

My fifth day in Bali was spent lounging on the beach. It was amazing! We would occasionally go in the water but for the most part we just lounged. In the evening we watched the sunset from the roof of our hostel.

Bali Day 4

On day 4 in Bali me and Pat decided to go on another trip. We also invited another girl from our hostel to Join us. We woke up at 2 in the morning, got in the car and drove for 3 hours and then climbed a volcano to watch the sunrise. It was so cool. After the sun was up we got to see all the steam leaving the crater from where it erupted before and you could see all the old lava on the ground below. Once we were done with that and climbed down safely (it was hard to climb down because of the loose rock) we got some Luwak (or the special cat digested coffee) to wake us up. It's supposed to be the best coffee in the world but I think I disagree. It was cool to say that I tried it though. After that me and Pat went rafting. That was very cool. Our guide was sooo funny and really made the whole ride. Plus it was beautiful in the valley. We were pretty beat after that but stopped to check out a temple on our way home. We were very tired that night. It was a fun day though. :)
